Manage your cat’s urinary condition with this specialist clinical diet that encourages more water intake, dilutes and acidifies their urine to help dissolve struvite stones and limit the formation of calcium oxalate stones.
Product Details
Struvite stones are a formation of minerals that combine together to form crystals and stones. These hard deposits collect in the bladder and urethra and can block urination, which can cause considerable discomfort and pain. They can cause a complete blockage in the urethra which can be life-threatening if not addressed.
VETERINARY HPM® Urology Cat Food U2 is a complete dry cat food that helps to dissolve current struvite stones and prevents new struvite and oxalate crystals from forming.
In addition to providing all the daily nutrition your cat requires, this special dry dietary formula:
> Contains an high levels of high-quality protein content (44%) to encourage your cat to drink more, thereby increasing urine volume and urination which is important in the management of urinary stones.
> Is analysed for a low struvite RSS (relative supersaturation) of <1 to dissolve and limit formation of bladder stones. RSS is the measure of how likely a crystal is likely to form and is a unique scale for each type of crystal.
> Balances the pH of urine to help limit both struvite and oxalate crystals forming.
> Limits urinary tract inflammation with a high level of omega-3 fatty acids (EPA + DHA)
> Limits the intake of calcium and phosphorus to lower the risk of future struvite and oxalate stones
> Is low in carbohydrates (23%), calcium, magnesium and phosphate
This VETERINARY HPM® Urology Cat Food U2 dry diet comes in convenient resealable bags weighing 1.5 kg, 3 kg and 7 kg. Also available as a wet cat food in pouches. Follow the feeding guidelines on the package for your cat’s body weight to provide the ideal daily ration.
This food is suitable for adult and senior cats not diagnosed with chronic kidney disease or cardiac insufficiency. Do not use during growth stages (kittens and junior cats) or while pregnant or lactating.
The VETERINARY HPM® clinical range helps to manage several conditions and is more adapted to feline carnivore needs thanks to its low carbohydrate and high protein content (moderate in the case of kidney disease).
Benefits
With a high protein content (44%), this diet will stimulate your cat to drink more, thereby increasing urination which helps to balance the pH of urine. The high levels of fatty acids limits urinary tract inflammation.
High protein and sodium content encourages water intake to increase urination [1].

The formulation induces urine undersaturation for struvite stones with struvite RSS* <1 to promote rapid* dissolution of struvite stones [1] [2].
* RSS: Relative Super Saturation index, in comparison to Veterinary HPM U2 cat food.

Fish oil supplements achieve high amounts of omega-3, specifically EPA+DHA, and helps limit lower urinary tract inflammation.
Urinary pH between 6.0-6.5 helps dissolve struvite stones whilst limiting calcium oxalate formation [2].
